Prayer for Writers

Saint Francis de Sales, whose memorial is celebrated today on the modern calendar, is the patron saint of writers. I pray for his intercession in times of writing struggles.

May the Lord guide me and all those who write.
Through your prayers, Saint Francis de Sales,
I ask for your intercession
as I attempt to bring the written word to the world.
May God take me in the palm of His hand
and inspire my creativity and my success.
Saint Francis de Sales,
you understand the dedication required.
Pray for God to inspire and allow ideas to flow.
In His name, let my words reflect
my faith for others to read.

Amen.

Beautiful prayer, Thom. I’m a writer, too (and I need all the help I can get!)

I’m still subscribed to your blog but I’ve struggled to keep up with it. Around the time you started writing about the commencement of the Camino (mid 2016) I came down with shingles and pneumonia. Some people have all the luck…

Very timely, this prayer for writers. And I’m very pleased you are continuing your blog. Here resides an energy of yearning, a spiritual search, the desire to be humble and sincere. It’s refreshing, in this world of nonsense and falsity.

    Best regards,

I’ve just discovered the quotes at the bottom of this page. I intend to read every one of them. And here’s one I quite like:

A person is a fool to become a writer. His only compensation is absolute freedom. He has no master except his own soul, and that, I am sure, is why he does it.
