Camino Photo of the Day: Second Breakfast

When you walk 20 or 25 km a day, you need a lot of fuel. Normally, we took second breakfast at the first village we came to. Later in the Meseta, this wasn’t always possible, and we took a picnic second breakfast. On this, our second walking day, we stopped at a place called Bar Fronton in Burguete, the very first village after Roncesvalles. Outside it was pouring rain, and it wasn’t going to stop any time soon.

Notice that in Spain, coffee comes in a proper cup with a proper saucer and a proper spoon. One of the many, many little things I miss about Spain.

  • That was our second walking day, if it was after Roncesvalles, darling. Also, that was a delicious tidbit of cheese and ham there and I remember it fondly. We were soaking wet. There was a beautiful husky nearby and I got my meds at the Farmacia nearby. There was hail. I was not amused.
