One Year Ago: Through Tentacle City and into Cheesetown!

(from my journal)

Arzúa (a.k.a. “Cheesetown”)
30 April 2013

Today, a long, long walk. Francine was a champion – just exploding out of the gate, and again at the end of the day. By way of contrast, a strained muscle slowed me to a crawl at the end of the day.

Beautiful forested rainy Galicia! Just magical.

Lunched on pulpo in Melide, where we fell for the first fellow waving an octopus around.

I’d just about given up the ghost by the time we arrived at Ribadiso do Baixo (our original destination at 27km), especially when we saw the friendly faces of Radek and the Canadians there, but Francine pushed us on. She had heard about the famous cheese of Arzúa and was determined to have some tonight.

So we walked a total of 30.5km today.

We met up with Mia and Lizzie at various points in the day, and we entered Arzúa with them.

No rooms to be had anywhere! Finally found a place above the “Peregrino” bar, the Pension Meson do Peregrino.

Dinner with all the Irish, huzzah!

All the photos for day 29.
