N<\/span>ot quite two weeks ago, my son Tristan made me a grandfather. It is an awesome thing to watch generations unfold, and for a while, it kind of left me speechless. What could I say about the birth of this beautiful little girl that would be both meaningful and from the heart? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mere profundity of her birth (indeed, any birth!) should shush us into silence before the awesome beauty that is Creation and its Creator. And I was shushed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t know that even now I can say anything profound. So instead, I will again offer congratulations to Brynn and Tristan on the birth of their daughter. And to Rilee, all I can say is welcome to the crazy beauty that is our world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’ve done our very best to screw up our little planet, but we’ve also done our very best to save it. To you who shall inherit it, I wish you all my love and all my prayers and all my grandfatherly blessings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
