T<\/span>oday the Cardinal Electors, guided by the Holy Spirit, elected Robert Francis Cardinal Prevost<\/a> to the Chair of Saint Peter. He has chosen the name of Leo XIV<\/a>, perhaps in homage to Pope Leo the Great<\/a>, or perhaps to Pope Leo XIII<\/a>, author of Rerum Novarum<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Francine and I watched from her hospital room. Although quite ill, she was very much engaged with the moment. This is her seventh Pope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
