T<\/span>his morning is the calm before the whirlwind. It is the moment of silence in the morning before everyone else is awake and about their busy day. In many ways, this has always been my favourite part of the day. It’s when you can see the whole glorious day stretch out before you full of promise and possibility. I rarely get that part of the day, however, as I’m usually rushing around getting ready for work. Perhaps the moments are treasured because of their scarcity?<\/p>\n

Thanksgiving was wonderful. I attended Mass in the morning – the last time I would ever hear it celebrated according to the 1970 Sacramentary. Then it was home to clean, bake, clean, eat, clean, collapse. My step-son Sam was a tremendous help. My step-daughter Michaela made her famous cheesecake. I baked a lot of pie. I like pie.<\/p>\n

Have I Mentioned that I Like Pie?<\/p><\/div>Francine put on an amazing feast. We had family and friends for dinner, and more for dessert. <\/p>\n

My son Tristan drove up from Portland to join us. He’s now attending the Art Institute down there and doing extremely well. I’ve rarely been prouder of him.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, the so-called “Black Friday” was spent again with family and friends. We saw the new Muppet Movie, which I can recommend without reservation, and then had another Thanksgiving dinner that couldn’t be beat at a friend’s house.<\/p>\n

Today is the second day I’ve had pie for breakfast. I like pie.<\/p>\n

I have some writing to do this morning, and then it’s to the church to set up our Advent wreath and help Father Delmore prepare the new Missals. He blessed them at Mass last Sunday, and folks got a chance to take a look at them.<\/p>\n

Tonight, on the vigil Mass of the First Sunday of Advent, the Third Edition of the Missale Romanum<\/em> will be used for the first time.<\/p>\n
