\nT<\/span>he Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) has called for reform of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) and named Archbishop Peter Sartain of Seattle<\/a> as its Archbishop Delegate for the initiative. Bishop Leonard Blair and Bishop Thomas John Paprocki also were also named to assist in this effort.<\/p>\n

\nAddresses given during LCWR annual Assemblies manifest problematic statements and serious theological, even doctrinal errors. The Cardinal offered as an example specific passages of Sr. Laurie Brink\u2019s address about some Religious \u201cmoving beyond the Church\u201d or even beyond Jesus. This is a challenge not only to core Catholic beliefs; such a rejection of faith is also a serious source of scandal and is incompatible with religious life.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Secretary-General of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia<\/p><\/div>I was not aware (or did not remember) that the archbishop\u2019s sister is Sister Marian Sartain, O.P., the Secretary-General of the Nashville Dominicans<\/a>. <\/p>\n

That will certainly put a certain, shall we say, spin <\/em>on things.<\/p>\n

I think the pictures tell the story.<\/p>\n

It’s interesting that membership in the congregations of sisters that make up the the LCRW have continued to plummet over the years, while the Nashville Dominicans, and groups like them, are enjoying explosive growth<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hmm. Now why would that be?<\/p>\n

One wonders if perhaps visitations of other dramatically declining religious congregations might be in the wings.<\/p>\n
