Except that in my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seattlearch.org\/\">diocese<\/a>, it&#8217;s not. In many places in the USA and UK, Ascension Thursday is this coming Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>This makes absolutely no sense to me.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the traditional music for this day is <a href=\"http:\/\/thenewliturgicalmovement.blogspot.com\/2007\/05\/viri-galilaei.html\">Viri Galilaei<\/a>. It won&#8217;t be sung in my parish. <\/p>\n<p>Although I&#8217;m a member of a Latin Rite parish, I&#8217;ve never heard Latin there, except for the <i>Agnus Dei<\/i>, and then only during Lent.<\/p>\n<p>Although the Church has repeatedly said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gregorian-chant.info\/\">Gregorian Chant<\/a> has &#8220;pride of place&#8221; in the Latin Rite, I&#8217;ve never heard it in my parish, except for the aforementioned <i>Agnus Dei<\/i> during Lent.<\/p>\n<p>This makes absolutely no sense to me either.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today is Ascension Thursday.
