T<\/span>he most observant of my three loyal readers will note that my place of employment no longer appears amongst the links on this page. Due to bugetary issues, my employment contract with Visitation Catholic School has not been renewed. We’re trying to sort out whether my last day is end of June or end of August.<\/p>\n

I found out Friday, and the staff was informed Monday. The students, so far as I know, remain in ignorance.<\/p>\n

This was, bar none, the most challenging and personally satisfying job I’ve had, and I will miss it greatly.<\/p>\n

If anybody’s looking for a writer, layout person, designer, or such in the Seattle area, please let me know.<\/p>\n

In other news, I listened to a parent berate me on the phone for the better part of an hour for her failure to communicate, all the while knowing that I wasn’t going to be around next year to fix it for her. That was pretty painful.<\/p>\n

And last night, I was given a pretty hard slap by someone in authority in my parish. Where that will lead, I do not know, but it was fairly devastating on a personal level.<\/p>\n

I can only quote Cardinal Newman, from the card taped to my computer monitor:<\/p>\n

God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission – I never may know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. <\/p>\n

I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for nothing. I shall do good, I shall do His work.<\/p>\n

Therefore I will trust Him. Whatever, wherever I am, I can never be thrown away. If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him; in perplexity, my perplexity may serve Him; if I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve Him. My sickness, or perplexity, or sorrow may be necessary causes of some great end, which is quite beyond us. He does nothing in vain; He may prolong my life, He may shorten it; He knows what He is about. He may take my friends, He may throw me among strangers, He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide the future from me – still He knows what He is about.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
