{"id":61978,"date":"2013-04-28T10:41:24","date_gmt":"2013-04-28T17:41:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/amateurmonk\/heatwave-day-two\/"},"modified":"2013-07-16T01:43:30","modified_gmt":"2013-07-16T08:43:30","slug":"heatwave-day-two","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/amateurmonk\/heatwave-day-two\/","title":{"rendered":"Heatwave, Day Two"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>24 April<\/p>\n<p class=\"drop\">Fun hiking morning with Smith and Terra, Santiago, and Stella and Diego (from Brazil).<\/p>\n<p>In Villafranca del Bierzo, we mailed home a box of souvenirs and various unneeded items.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch in Pereje with Smith and Terra, Ian from Glasgow (who we met walking into the village), and Anya from Nuremburg.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/20130428-193346.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/20130428-193346.jpg?w=860\" alt=\"20130428-193346.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then, the heat set in.<\/p>\n<p>Progress slowed to a crawl, and we finally settled into a bar in Trabedelo for several hours, drinking water and soda and trying to outlast the heat.<\/p>\n<p>In the early evening, we slowly made our way to Vega de Valcarce.
