Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, Virgin and Martyr.<\/strong><\/p>\n

(12 October 1891 to 09 August 1942)
\n<\/center><\/p>\n

Edith Stein<\/a> was an influential German Jewish philosopher. An atheist by the time she was a teenager, she was influenced by the writings of Saint Teresa of \u00c1vila<\/a> and converted to the Roman Catholic Church. She was baptized at the age of 31.<\/p>\n

S<\/span>he entered Teresa’s Order and became a Discalced Carmelite<\/a> nun. <\/p>\n

With many others, she was arrested in retaliation for the Church’s public stand against Nazism and antisemitism. <\/p>\n

She was killed at Auschwitz.<\/p>\n

God of our Fathers,
\nwho brought the Martyr Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross
\nto know your crucified Son and to imitate him even until death,
\ngrant, through her intercession,
\nthat the whole human race may acknowledge Christ as its Savior
\nand through him come to behold you for eternity. <\/p>\n
