Once again we come to a feast of All Saints. “But wait!” I hear you cry, “wasn’t that back on the first of November<\/a>?”<\/p>\n

R<\/span>ight you are!<\/p>\n

But today on the Benedictine calendar<\/a> is the feast of All Saints of the Benedictine Order.<\/p>\n

\"All<\/a>And on a Friday the thirteenth, no less.<\/p>\n

Many Orders (and some countries<\/a>) have their own All Saints and All Souls days. <\/p>\n

Today is a day for us to rejoice in the lives, and to pray for the intercession, of Saint Benedict and the many other Benedictine saints. <\/p>\n

And there are hundreds <\/a>of them, from Saints Benedict <\/a>and Scholastica <\/a>in the sixth century, right up through Blesseds Columba Marmion<\/a> and Alfredo Schuster<\/a> in the twentieth.<\/p>\n

\n

We beseech Thee, O Lord,
\ngrant that the example of the holy Monks
\nmay stir us to a better life,
\nso that we may imitate the actions
\nof those whose solemnity we celebrate.<\/p>\n

Through our Lord, Jesus Christ, Thy Son,
\nWho with Thee liveth and reigneth
\nin the unity of the Holy Ghost, God,
\nworld without end.<\/p>\n

Amen.<\/p>\n
