Today has just been a lovely day. <\/p>\n

W<\/span>e had a morning meeting at church with our parish Liturgical Commission. Thanks to Francine’s strategic kicks under the table, I was able to keep us on topic and relatively focused. Good meeting, and many fewer squirrels than usual. (Squirrel!)<\/p>\n

Went to Confession in the afternoon, followed by a pilgrimage to our parish’s holy doors<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span>, and then the Vigil Mass for the Solemnity of the Baptism of the Lord. <\/p>\n

\"orthanc\"<\/a>We’ve had a Deacon visiting family (and celebrating Mass with us) from out of state for the last month, and he’s been a joy, both to celebrate with and to talk with. This was my last Mass with him, before he returns to California. He had some very encouraging words for me, as well as some advice that I’m taking to heart.<\/p>\n

Then a spot of dinner – a feast really – that Francine pulled together seemingly out of thin air. <\/p>\n

Now I’ll take a glass of wine and continue my quasi-annual re-read of The Lord of the Rings<\/em>. The Ents have taken Isengard!<\/p>\n
