I<\/span>t was 24 hours of travel! \"\"<\/a> 
\nH<\/span>igh winds in London meant flight delays. We were an hour late in landing, and we had some panicky moments when we thought our flight from Heathrow to Madrid might be canceled.Fortunately, it was only delayed about an hour. We made up some time in the air, and landed 45 minutes late.<\/p>\n

We breezed through customs and jogged to the metro station, where we barely made the train to Atocha. The doors of the metro actually closed on me – between my body and my pack \u2013 and I couldn’t extricate myself. Fortunately, another passenger sprang into action and pried the doors open to free me.<\/p>\n

Atocha train station is enormous, and it was only thanks to Francine’s unerring sense of train station navigation that we found the correct part of the station complex and our platform and train. We were in our seats with 15 minutes to spare.<\/p>\n

The movie on the train to Pamplona was a biography of Jorge Bergolio.<\/p>\n

We were picked up at the Pamplona train station by the lovely proprietors of Coraz\u00f3n Puro, Istv\u00e1n and Barbara. Istv\u00e1n made us a brilliant dinner \u2013 lentil soup, abondigas, chickpeas, potato, finished off with some sort of yummy Spanish custard.<\/p>\n

They are a delightful Hungarian couple, and we talked and laughed through dinner. It’s past 9 PM and time to collapse.<\/p>\n

We are in Spain! <\/p>\n
