We left Puente la Reina about 8 am, and it was raining by 9.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/img_7556.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/img_7556.jpg?w=860\" alt=\"\"><\/a>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<span class=\"wpsdc-drop-cap\">W<\/span>e walked with Emilio and Katy. Second breakfast in Ma\u00f1eru, and lunch in Lorca.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, most of the churches we passed today were locked up. Between Ma\u00f1eru and Ciraqui we were on and off a Roman road. Like everything else, it was drowned in mud. A quick burst of speed at the end of the day&#8217;s walk turned my legs to rubber.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 2458px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/img_7571.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"860\" height=\"1147\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/img_7571.jpg?resize=860%2C1147\" title=\"\" class=\"size-custom\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mud!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nOnce we checked into our albergue, Katy and I ran down to the nearby Iglesia San Miguel for the Mass of the Annunciation. Following Mass, the priest gave us a pilgrims&#8217; blessing and enjoined us to pray the pilgrim&#8217;s prayer every day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/img_7634.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/img_7634.jpg?w=860\" alt=\"\"><\/a>&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe church has a jaw-dropping collection of relics, including the True Cross (the tiniest sliver), Saint Peter, Saint Blaise, and Saint Barbara.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/img_7642.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/img_7642.jpg?w=860\" alt=\"\"><\/a>&nbsp;<br \/>\nEmilio cooked dinner &#8211; rice and chicken &#8211; and we spent a lovely evening with a great company of pilgrims from Canada, Germany, Norway, and France.
