T<\/span>his weekend we’re having what we call a “churchy” weekend. In just a few hours, I’m heading over to the parish<\/a> to run a morning training for new and transferring Altar Servers.<\/p>\n

\"Servers\"<\/a>After lunch, rehearsals for the Corpus Christi<\/a> Mass and Procession begin.<\/p>\n

In the church today, we’re also hosting some youth pilgrims coming to the Holy Door<\/a>, Adoration, Benediction, and Mass.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow, the Mass and Eucharistic procession through the streets of Tacoma.<\/p>\n

Why all the practice and rehearsal?<\/p>\n

Corpus Christi Mass, Holy Rosary, Tacoma, 2015<\/p><\/div>Well, it takes a lot of coordination and drill to make something look natural and effortless, particularly when you have a large number of people involved. The very last thing we want to do is to distract people from their worship with a lot of collisions and fumbling around.<\/p>\n

And of course, at my parish we celebrate the Corpus Christi Masses ad Orientem<\/em>. Since we do this somewhat infrequently, a refresher is definitely in order!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
