Y<\/span>esterday I told the story of the death of Cesare Borgia<\/a>. This is the fa\u00e7ade of the Iglesia de Santa Mar\u00eda de Viana<\/a> where he is buried. We arrived just as Mass was letting out. Shortly after this photo was taken, Patrick and I went up to the open doors of the church to look for the tomb and to pray a bit. Just as we got to the door, a fellow came up to the door, wagged his finger at us and shouted. Then he closed and locked the door. This is a scene I will never forget. It would be three years<\/a> before I got to see the tomb, with its nearby inscription “Here in a scant piece of earth lies he whom all the world feared”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
