It was established by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Garc%C3%ADa_S%C3%A1nchez_III_of_Pamplona\" target=\"_blank\">King Garc\u00eda S\u00e1nchez III<\/a> of Navarra in 1052 as the place of burial of the Kings and Queens of Navarra. After his death in 1054, the monastery and royal pantheon was granted to the monks of Cluny by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alfonso_VI_of_Le%C3%B3n_and_Castile\" target=\"_blank\">King Alfonso VI &#8220;El Bravo&#8221;<\/a> of  Le\u00f3n and Castile.
