We were exhausted, walking into the wind, and I was sick with a cold. And then, in this unassuming little village, we passed a group of pilgrims. For once, we were not the slowest pilgrims! Huzzah! The very thought gave us a renewed energy against the winds, and we walked (rather than staggered) onwards!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The village of Viloria, now in Castilla, was in medieval times part of the Kingdom of Navarra&#8217;s region of La Rioja. It is also the birthplace of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/camino-photo-of-the-day-santo-domingo-de-la-calzada-and-his-chickens\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/camino-photo-of-the-day-santo-domingo-de-la-calzada-and-his-chickens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Santo Domingo de la Calzada<\/a>.
