You would be forgiven for thinking so, but <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/camino-photo-of-the-day-the-tomb-of-san-juan-de-ortega\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"10751\" target=\"_blank\">as we discovered yesterday<\/a>, the saint is laid in a rather plain stone casket elsewhere in the church. No, this mortuary monument is in fact entirely empty. It is said that this was to avoid looting in the days when this region was <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/camino-photo-of-the-day-wolves-and-bandits\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/camino-photo-of-the-day-wolves-and-bandits\/\" target=\"_blank\">rife with bandits<\/a>.
