The full name of the church is the <em>Santa Iglesia Bas\u00edlica Catedral Metropolitana de Santa Mar\u00eda de Burgos<\/em>. That&#8217;s quite a mouthful, and probably the reason most everybody just calls it &#8220;the cathedral&#8221;. This particular morning, the fountain was not flowing, so there was nothing to distract from the statue itself.
