Just before Hontanas, there’s a tiny shrine to St. Bridget. The question is: which one? Based on the head covering and book, you would think this is St. Bridget of Ireland (c. 451 – 525). But based on the inscription that runs around the inside of the dome, where it mentions her Camino, it is more likely to be St. Bridget of Sweden (1303 – 1373), as she walked the Camino in 1341. In either case, it’s a lovely little shrine, and a cool respite on a hot morning. Saint Bridgets, all, pray for us!

Date: 14 April 2013
Place: approaching Hontanas (Province of Burgos, Castilla y León, Spain)
Today started: San Bol (Province of Burgos, Castilla y León, Spain)

A rare montage!
