After the eternal final 6km, Eamon and I arrive in the town of <meta charset=\"utf-8\">Carri\u00f3n de los Condes. This place has been inhabited since at least Paleolithic times, with the Celto-Iberians, Romans, Visigoths, and Moors at various times living here. Despite the plethora of history in the area, at the time I was most concerned about my shoes. I had blown out the heels on both shoes, and now my socks had holes in the heels as well. I described it in my journal as a &#8220;catastrophic failure of footware&#8221; (sic).
