The Camino crosses a medieval stone bridge over a narrow river with the rather grand name of Boralde de Saint-Chély-d’Aubrac. The bridge itself is called the Pont des Pèlerins (Pilgrims’ Bridge), and it features a bas relief of a pilgrim with his staff and cape. The image is extremely weathered, and I suspect that if you didn’t know what it was meant to represent, you’d have a difficult time figuring it out. It was a comfort to me as I set out in the dark. Of course, once I got to the other side of the bridge, finding the trail markers proved a challenge.

Date: 24 August 2023
Place: leaving Saint-Chély-d’Aubrac, Aveyron Département, Region of Occitanie, France

Maps!

If you’re the sort who looks at the maps, you’ll note that the stage shown is 32+km long.
