E<\/span>ach of the pillars in the hidden chapel<\/a> are different, particularly their capitals. The designs range from Biblical or angelic figures to knotwork to plant life to grotesque creatures. They very much brought to mind Hannah’s Canticle<\/a> from the first Book of Samuel, from which Ken Follett took the title of his famous book. I took many photos here, which can be seen in this Flickr album<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He raises up the poor from the dust;
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0he lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and inherit a seat of honor.
