T<\/span>he first room on the castle tour is the kitchen. The castle itself dates to the 15th century. It was home to the Estaing family until Admiral Charles Henri\u00a0d’Estaing<\/a>\u00a0was guillotined during the Revolution.\u00a0After that it was effectively parted out in lots of one or two rooms each. In 1836, the nuns of Saint Joseph bought out the other lots of the castle and used it as a convent, school, and retirement home. They sold it to the village of Estaing in 2000, which, in turn, sold it in 2005 to the\u00a0Giscard d’Estaing family<\/a>, led by Val\u00e9ry\u00a0Giscard\u00a0d’Estaing, the\u00a0former\u00a0President\u00a0of France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
