T<\/span>his is a closeup of the high altar of the church of Notre Dame du Puy de Figeac<\/a>. It is carved from walnut, and it’s just stunning. I sat here for quite some time just soaking it in. Most of the side altars here are similarly unpainted and ungilded, though the next photo in this series will show one that isn’t. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: <\/strong>I’m still running a day behind. Not only have I not quite adjusted to my new work schedule, I had a meeting yesterday afternoon that ran far longer than I expected. I hope to catch up later today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
