Lions and bears and eagles are more usual for this sort of thing &#8211; and indeed the lion of Le\u00f3n and the castle of Castile also feature. But why chickens? Well, therein lies a tale. The legend is quite interesting \u2013 my map sums it up as \u201cthe legend of the roast chicken that crowed a condemned man\u2019s innocence\u201d.
