W<\/span>e climbed the Alto de Mostalares with a passel of Evergreen students that we had been walking with on and off for several days: Brian, Tracy, Cooper, and Michelle. Brian and I climbed much of this side by side, discussing poetry and philosophy, both of which seemed to be demanded by the terrain and view. We were trying, I think, to keep our spirits up as the climb itself was difficult and exhausting. At least the rain stopped – because we had climbed up into the cloud. <\/p>\n

Here, Francine demonstrates our beautiful “Strawberry Troll” ponchos: good for rain and also handy when you want to look like some sort of Tolkien-esque wizard with your robes majestically flapping in the breeze.<\/p>\n
