I had purchased a pair of Merrils several weeks ago, but after about 20 miles of hikes they had not broken in. <\/p>\n<p>In fact, they&#8217;d gotten more and more painful the more I wore them. So I exchanged them for a pair of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keenfootwear.com\/us\/en\/product\/ss12\/shoes\/men\/trailhead\/siskiyou%20mid%20wp\/black%20olive!harvest%20gold\" target=\"_blank\">Keen Siskiyou Mids<\/a>. These already fit better after just one very short hike.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/AdventuryHat.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/AdventuryHat-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Adventury Hat\" title=\"Adventury Hat\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-722\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/AdventuryHat-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thomryng.com\/camino\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/AdventuryHat.jpg 604w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I also bought a hat. Now, I&#8217;m a hat guy; I certainly own more hats than shoes. Other than my pith helmet (which is hardly appropriate for hiking <em>or<\/em> the Camino) I had nothing that constituted an adventury hat.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tilley.com\/The-T3-Cotton-Duck-Hat.aspx?id=10CD03HT0T32971\" target=\"_blank\">Tilley hat<\/a> I bought is amazing, and it looks to be near indestructible. I&#8217;m very pleased with it.<\/p>\n<p>I did notice one odd thing, though, when we were hiking around <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fws.gov\/Nisqually\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nisqually<\/a> later, I ran into a number of older gentlemen wearing Tilleys.
