We went to the evening Mass, and if it was valid, much less licit, I’m a salamander. The priest (I presume), dressed in an alb and a colourful Central American folk scarf in lieu of vestments, used ceramic vessels, as well as handkerchiefs for purifcator and corporal. He made up prayers on the fly during his innovative Order of Mass, which included a long homily after the collect and a long narrative prayer to Santiago following Communion. The entirety of the Eucharistic Prayer was ad hoc. Although sorely tempted to walk out, I remained throughout the twenty-minute service.

Date: 26 April 2016
Place: Triacastela (Galicia, Spain)

Today’s Map:

The Romanesque church of Santiago de Triacastela is quite lovely – I’ll post some additional photos in the next days from the interior – but our experience there was… weird.
