T<\/span>his portion of the Camino seems to be a near constant series of bars and caf\u00e9s. They have certainly multiplied since the last time we were here!<\/p>\n

After a most delicious breakfast at the albergue \u2013 and the Albergue Santa Irene is probably the finest on the Camino \u2013 we set out before dawn. This is only the second time Francine had to use her headlamp.<\/p>\n

We walked for a while with a delightful blue-haired woman from Kansas City named Victoria (and her relatives and friend), and met many new people in our frequent coffee stops.<\/p>\n

There are a lot<\/em> of pilgrims on the Camino right now \u2013 more than we’ve ever seen.<\/p>\n

Mostly, however, Francine and I walked alone together on an easy route, primarily through forest. We purposely structured the day so we would end about 5 km from the cathedral.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

At one stop later in the day, a ginger cat jumped up onto my lap and demanded pets. I decided his name was Esteban.<\/p>\n

We stayed a little longer than we should have before pressing on to San Marcos for a 19.5 km day.<\/p>\n
