What I find interesting about this statue, is that Carlos was not King of Spain. No, he was <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"King of Navarra (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charles_III_of_Navarre\" target=\"_blank\">King of Navarra<\/a> from 1361 to 1425. The plaza in which he stands is named after an entirely different Kingdom. Having in my ignorance always thought of Spain as a monolithic country, I was quite surprised to discover that it&#8217;s actually a slew of countries jammed together.
