We were working as volunteers for <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/savetacomaslandmarkchurch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Save Tacoma&#8217;s Landmark Church<\/a><\/em>. Our (first annual?) gala auction was Saturday. The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Iglesia de la Asunci\u00f3n (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.villatuerta.es\/turismo\/arte\/iglesia-de-la-asuncion\/\" target=\"_blank\">Iglesia de la Asunci\u00f3n<\/a> in Villatuerta was built around 1200, burned down by the invading Castilians in 1378, rebuilt in the following years, and expanded in the 18th century. I&#8217;ve heard the interior is a lovely mix of late Romanesque and Gothic style, with a beautiful 17th century altar. Sadly, the church has been locked up every time I&#8217;ve walked by. However, it does have a rather impressive statue in the courtyard out front.
