Pilgrims on the Way

Camino Photo of the Day: Falling Behind

The thing about walking with people whose legs are longer than yours is that you tend to fall behind them. Unless, of course, you’re remarkably speedy. Here we see Ávila and Bruno ahead of me. Darn their long legs! This was one of Francine’s big issues on our first Camino – she told me that, as lovely as she found my backside, she was tired of seeing it all the time! I eventually learned to moderate my natural pace, and as she got in better shape, we got a lot faster together. On this particular Camino, though, I was never able to keep up with Bruno.

Date: 30 August 2023
Place: Somewhere past the village of Bressou (between Figeac and Lacapelle-Marival), Lot Département, Region of Occitanie, France

Maps!

The site I’ve been using for my daily maps, Gronze.com, while otherwise great, unfortunately doesn’t have maps for this variant. So here’s a map from my book Practical Pilgrimage showing the entirety of the three main variants and larger sub-variants. I walked the GR6 from Figeac to Rocamadour and the GR46 on to Cahors.
