Progress – Camino Francés 2018

Being a chronicle of our progress upon our pilgrimage, the Camino de Santiago, or Way of Saint James, in the autumn of 2018 through the ancient Kingdom of Galicia. The number of kilometers traveled per day should be considered a rough guess. An extremely rough guess.

30 September – Pilgrim blessing.

02 October – Thom and Francine fly to … Atlanta.
03 October – Adventures in Atlanta. Fly to Madrid, arriving early in the morning the next day.
04 October – Bus to Pedrafita do Cebreiro. Cab to O Cebreiro.

Day 01 – 05 October – O Cebreiro to Filloval – 16.9 km (Michelin) or 16.5 km (Confraternity Guide) or 21 km (Fitbit)
Day 02 – 06 October – Filloval to Samos – 13.9 km (Michelin) or 17 km (Fitbit)
Day 03 – 07 October – Samos to Vilei – 23.9 km (Fitbit) All subsequent distance according to Fitbit
Day 04 – 08 October – Vilei to Portomarín – 21 km
Day 05 – 09 October – Portomarín to Eirexe – 21 km
Day 06 – 10 October – Eirexe to Melide – 26 km
Day 07 – 11 October – Melide to Arzúa – 17 km
Day 08 – 12 October – Arzúa to Santa Irene – 18 km
Day 09 – 13 October – Santa Irene to San Marcos – 19.5 km
Day 10 – 14 October – San Marcos to Santiago de Compostela – 6 km

15 and 16 October – Exploring Santiago.

17 to 18 October – Train from Santiago to Madrid. Flight home: Madrid to Amsterdam to Seattle/Tacoma.
