Pilgrims on the Way

Camino Photo of the Day: Église Saint-Eutrope de Thémines

As I said yesterday, Paul obtained the key to the village church for us to visit. It looks quite unassuming on the outside, almost run-down. But on the inside, the sanctuary is a neoclassical marvel – a total surprise when you enter the doors. Quite moving and affecting, I think because of that surprise. While the church clearly needs some restoration work, as you will see when I post some additional photos next week, this is a place of great beauty and serenity.

Date: 31 August 2023
Place: Thémines, between Lacapelle-Marival and Gramat, Lot Département, Region of Occitanie, France

Maps!

The site I’ve been using for my daily maps, Gronze.com, while otherwise great, unfortunately doesn’t have maps for this variant. So here’s a map from my book Practical Pilgrimage showing the entirety of the three main variants and larger sub-variants. I walked the GR6 from Figeac to Rocamadour and the GR46 on to Cahors.
