Camino Photo of the Day: Mary in the Garden

This classical statue of Our Lady with the child Jesus stands in the open garden of Le Grand Couvent de Gramat. I thought she had a rather pensive face, as if she was well aware of the sufferings that both she and her son would face. And yet, looked at another way, perhaps she has the knowing smile of a mother aware of the greatness of her son, a son who here throws his arms wide to embrace you and also to prefigure His passion. Truly a remarkable work.
