Pilgrims on the Way

Camino Photo of the Day: Lunch with a View

The Camino wound its way through farm and field. Just after 11:30 I came upon a small wooden shelter and a nearby picnic table with a view of the pasture, so I figured this was a good time to pull out my packed lunch. There were numerous days on the Via Podiensis where I had to carry food, as the Way seemingly went out of its way to avoid villages.

As I’m now researching the Via Lemovicensis for next year’s walk, I’m finding much the same, only more so. There’s even a section where I’ll be walking through a series of national and regional parks for more than a week, and the villages there are scarce indeed.

Date: 02 September 2023
Place: between Rocamadour and Labastide-Murat, Lot Département, Region of Occitanie, France

Maps!

The site I’ve been using for my daily maps, Gronze.com, while otherwise great, unfortunately doesn’t have maps for this variant. So here’s a map from my book Practical Pilgrimage showing the entirety of the three main variants and larger sub-variants. I walked the GR6 from Figeac to Rocamadour and the GR46 on to Cahors.
