Camino Photo of the Day: Not Wright Park
Out of the forest, the Camino quite suddenly approached the village of Labastide-Murat through a lovely park beside a pond. Suddenly, out of nowhere, there was a manicured lawn, benches, and picnic tables. It reminded me of Wright Park back home in Tacoma, where Francine and I have logged countless training kilometers over the years. I thought that surely this must be a mirage of some kind. A figment of a deluded mind desperate for the village. I didn’t care. I sat on one of the benches. It was real. My feet throbbed. It was almost 2:30 PM, and I had logged 29.9 km so far. After drinking a little water and giving my feet a moment to calm down, I continued for the last kilometer of the day.

Maps!
The site I’ve been using for my daily maps, Gronze.com, while otherwise great, unfortunately doesn’t have maps for this variant. So here’s a map from my book Practical Pilgrimage showing the entirety of the three main variants and larger sub-variants. I walked the GR6 from Figeac to Rocamadour and the GR46 on to Cahors.
