Camino Photo of the Day: Cathédrale Saint-Etienne de Cahors
As one would expect, the Camino passes next to the cathedral in Cahors. We’ll explore it in some detail in the coming days, but first, I would have to find the Tourist Office and secure a gîte for the night. I will say, it was a little odd approaching the cathedral from the back; I feel like the Camino somehow always arranges that one sees these great churches from their best vantage point first. Not here! You can already see that the architecture is a little odd. It’s as if they started building a Byzantine-style church and then changed their mind and went full Gothic, possibly finishing off with a little more Byzantine on the top.

Maps!
The site I’ve been using for my daily maps, Gronze.com, while otherwise great, unfortunately doesn’t have maps for this variant. So here’s a map from my book Practical Pilgrimage showing the entirety of the three main variants and larger sub-variants. I walked the GR6 from Figeac to Rocamadour and the GR46 on to Cahors.
