Pilgrims on the Way

Unexpected Encounters

I almost didn’t go for my walk this morning because of the air quality. The sky was orange when I woke up, which is not my favorite colour for the sky.

As I headed to the park, I met a woman walking a dog. We exchanged good mornings, and then she said, “you look like you’re training for the Camino”. Indeed.

I explained to her that I had “just” returned from Camino, and then I had to work out that somehow it has already been two months since my return. We had a lovely conversation before I continued my walk.

I am very much still internalizing, digesting, and implementing the lessons of my recent pilgrimage.

It always takes a while for Camino lessons to sink in, but I think that for this one in particular, it will take a very long time indeed.

For the record, I don’t think I’m training for my next Camino, though of course, God willing, there are many adventures ahead of me to fulfill my promises to Francine. I have been recording the kilometers of my walks in my journal, but I haven’t applied them to a “virtual Camino” the way I do when I’m in training.

Come to think of it, due to various circumstances, I never finished my Vézelay virtual Camino before I left for France. Perhaps I will add those kilometers there and see where I’m at.

Anyway, here are some photos I’ve taken on my walks over the past week or so.
