Pilgrims on the Way

Camino Photo of the Day: Daily Mass Chapel

As I mentioned yesterday, just as I was finishing Vespers in the grandeur of l’Église de l’Assomption-de-la-Sainte-Vierge de Lacapelle-Marival, a Mass broke out. Weirdly, it wasn’t in the main sanctuary of the church. It wasn’t even in one of the well-appointed side chapels. No, it was in a weird little room at the back, built of rods and curtains and a partial wooden frame within the church itself. It was a lovely space, but I remain bewildered that anybody thought its construction was necessary.  It was a small, intimate Mass, celebrated in this little chapel with the priest, a server, and perhaps ten of us.

Maps!

The site I’ve been using for my daily maps, Gronze.com, while otherwise great, unfortunately doesn’t have maps for this variant. So here’s a map from my book Practical Pilgrimage showing the entirety of the three main variants and larger sub-variants. I walked the GR6 from Figeac to Rocamadour and the GR46 on to Cahors.
