Pilgrims on the Way

Camino Photo of the Day: Leaving Rocamadour

The next morning, I began my Camino day with the descent from Rocamadour. The stone steps were a little slippery following a nocturnal thunderstorm, so I took my time, gingerly exploring each step and hanging on to the stone wall at the left as best I could. After the great crush of tourists yesterday, it was eerie to see the streets of the town completely empty of people, especially in the blue-gray morning light.

Maps!

The site I’ve been using for my daily maps, Gronze.com, while otherwise great, unfortunately doesn’t have maps for this variant. So here’s a map from my book Practical Pilgrimage showing the entirety of the three main variants and larger sub-variants. I walked the GR6 from Figeac to Rocamadour and the GR46 on to Cahors.
