Pilgrims on the Way

Camino Photo of the Day: Through the Tree

It probably would have been faster and easier to get to Cahors by simply walking the main road from Vers. Nevertheless, I finally found the way to the river and followed a lovely trail through occasionally dense tree cover. Parts of the trail were not particularly well-maintained (or marked), but it was beautiful throughout. One memorable moment included a downed tree across the path, with no option but to scramble over and through it. In another place, the Camino had simply been cut through a fallen tree.

Maps!

The site I’ve been using for my daily maps, Gronze.com, while otherwise great, unfortunately doesn’t have maps for this variant. So here’s a map from my book Practical Pilgrimage showing the entirety of the three main variants and larger sub-variants. I walked the GR6 from Figeac to Rocamadour and the GR46 on to Cahors.
