This monument may be found beside the locks of the Canal de Castilla as one enters Frómista on the Camino. The pedestal is about waist-high, and the book itself, which appears to be carved from marble, is the size of a small child. Eventually, the Camino crosses the Canal de Castilla just before entering Frómista. Here, there are a set of mechanical locks, originally for raising and lowering canal boats to differing elevations.
