Camino Photo of the Day: Dinner in Puente la Reina

For a late dinner, we found ourselves in a local place called Bar Cervecería Very. We ordered the dinner, and were well rewarded for the hardships of the day. I post vanishingly few food photos here, but this was a particularly memorable meal, beginning with mussels in a spicy tomato sauce, moving on to a lamb shank, and crowned with a dessert of pears poached in port. This was the moment that Ali, a nutritionist, said to me “I’ve calculated that we’re eating about 5,000 calories a day – and we’re all losing weight!”

This day, the third walking day of my Camino, was in many ways its spiritual beginning, from the grandeur of the Cathedral in Pamplona to the quiet contemplation in Eunate.
