Camino Photo of the Day: Bercianos del Real Camino

Like much of rural Spain, the village of Bercianos is a shadow of its past. Once a large village with over a thousand inhabitants, it now boasts a population of less than 200. The village is filled with buildings like these, some falling to ruin and some looking as though a little TLC would bring them back to life. Eamon, Santiago, and I were exhausted by the time we arrived, and even though there were basically no amenities in the town besides the albergue, we decided to stay here for the night.

Date: 17 April 2013

Bercianos del Real Camino (Province of León, Castilla y León, Spain)
