Camino Photo of the Day: Pereje (or is that Perexe?)

We arrived in the hamlet of Pereje (population 37) about noon. It was a little jog off of the highway, for which we were grateful. By this time our little band had grown to six: Smith and Tara from Indiana, Iain from Glasgow (who we met entering the village), Anya from Nuremburg, and the two of us. We had a delightful lunch in the local bar together. You will note that the sign has been defaced from the Spanish spelling to the Galician spelling of the village’s name. We saw quite a bit of this on the borderlands between Castilla y León and Galicia, and even within Galicia itself. Either way, it’s pronounced the same.
