Camino Photo of the Day: the Madonna in San Tirso

Inside the parish church of San Tirso in Palas de Rei, I was particularly struck by this statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the Christ Child. There are several baskets nearby with a signs in various languages instructing pilgrims to take a slip of paper from inside. Each contains a short passage of scripture. Each time I have come here, I have taken one, and each time it has spoken directly to my needs and questions of the day. So despite the somewhat gaudy decor in this church1, I have always found it a place of prayer and meditation.

  1. This statue is perhaps the most understated thing there.
